i want to put 5mm lower springs from intrax
but i have the electronic suspension
can i fit them?
the 5mm is to low for the travel of the adsorders?

thank you

Yes you can fit them if you are asking whether they will fit. The handling is a different question though.
5 mm is ok (if it's not 50 mm)

mindus thank you for the answer
and sorry for the mistake

it 50mm not 5mm
5cm

what about the handling?

i have take this email from intrax today:

Hello Nikos,

Yes no problem, it will fit and work well. Just let me know when you want to order and I will process it.

so i thing that we have a positive answer for sure

The original shocks won't last long with -50mm springs. I believe the handling suffers also because the shocks are designed to longer movements.

I used 50mm lower springs (not Intrax) with standard shocks. Shocks are too soft with respect to handling at high speeds.
I think similar to Kessu. The piston in the shock is designed to travel longer distance to produce certain resistance to stop bouncing. With lowered suspension you also get smaller shock piston movement which produce too little resistance to bouncing.

thank you for the responce both of you
the standard shocks that you are talking is the electronic one?
maybe the electronic is different
why intrax mail me that they are going to work well?
maybe they want to sell only ?

it happens that sales reps work on sales volume due to commissions (we are humans :) ... I'm sure you know that :)
I hope that's not the case with Intrax since I want to get a set of coilovers designed for my Q4 some day from them..

It could be that Intrax made some precise calculations and testing afterwards and therefore are safe saying that their lowering springs and el.shocks works just fine in 155 Q4.
You have to buy and will see if you are happy with the product they offer.

i think that you are right
they have coilover kits for the Q4 ? :tasty:
or you are going to make a spesial order?

No they don't have a set of coilovers for Q4 :( But they would make one if someone would get a Q4 to their factory.
However I'm planning to measure the weight on each wheel (axle actually) of my lightened car and this should be the starting point.. since the mounting points etc. is the same as in other Alfas of 155 series. that's s plan for next year.

they have a coilover kit specially for the q4!

I know but it costs about 3000 euro.

it is 2250 euro ex VAT 19%, ex camber plates.
Camber plates are 170 euro each ex VAT

It is a bit expensive, but it's veeeeerrrrrry good!

We just helped them develop systems for the integrale so I know how effective it can be. You pay for what you get and I've seen the size of their trophy cabinet.

hahaha, yes they're very good, +when the set is old they can fix the seals and every thing, then its new again

Encouraged by Jan's message that Intrax launched coilovers for 155 Q4, I contacted Intrax to find out about coilovers they would offer for for track day/racing use. Given that they agreed me to post this info on this forum, here it is, a info on the intrax system they offer. I thought this info could be useful for those looking for an improvement on suspension side?

Basically Intrax offered 2 types of coilovers:
- RSA. The front is a 40 mm McPherson type strut.
- 1K2/RSA (front ? 1K2 system, rear ? RSA system). The front is a 45 mm McPherson type strut. Rear ? RSA shock absorber/coilover.
The front is an upside-down system.

Both systems use 1 button for damping adjustment (for both incoming and outgoing damping, like D2 coilovers). 40 positions in the damping range.
The RSA shock absorber has a hydraulic bump stop and an internal thermostat. The ?bump stop? suppose to increase the damping of large bumps (important for street use). The thermostat should keep the damping constant with changing temperature.

The back ? you can choose from a standard system with separate shock absorber and spring (70kg spring) or as an option you can order a coilover for the back also with no additional charge (i.e. no spring in the original place, it is on the shock absorber).

1K2 has camber plates included in the kit. It has aluminum lightweight 45 mm strut. 1K2 is more for circuit/competition use they claim and is ?very strong?. No other specs they mentioned.

I guess you could get a camberplates with RSA also, I did not enquire that. But as ?Jan? suggests, you can get those with RSA set.

In addition, intrax offer ?welding-plates? (5 mm thick) for caster adjustment and better camber adjustment. I attach a picture of those. In order to install them, you need to cut the original area and weld in those plates.

As an option, Intrax offer ?Black Titan? coating for 1K2/RSA coilover set (on the piston rod, for lower friction and extended life of the coilover). This adds up additional 400 EUR?

Intrax say that once you are ready to order a set, a technician from their company will ask more details, such as weight, tires used (e.g. slicks or road tyres), etc. to be able to make the right damping and spring rate ? Sounds good indeed.
However the prices as already mentioned are high. RSA set costs EUR 2250, 1K2/RSA ? EUR 2800 (+EUR 400 option for special coating).
Welding plates EUR 37 each.
