replacing the timing sensor {see graphic}, which is the procedure to properly register the new one?
Could not find the procedure in the workshop manual.

there is a mark in the body near the front bolt
this must be with the mark in the cylinder head
it is not exactly a mark...it is a corner made from 2 surfases

The UK manual mentions a "reference notch" in the middle of the bolt hole near the electrical connector.

But not sure that matches anything on the head???

I found some notes how to mound this sensor properly, from my friend in Italy, concerning the sensor for the Evo2.
I'll translate them tomorrow {I'm by the sea right now with the family} and I'll post it here.
I believe the holes must coincide - see attachment - with engine at compression phase for the 1st cylinder {at PMS}.

I believe it can only be checked with an oscilloscope but ... I have not any to confirm this.

The "reference notch" I mentioned is below the "8", look forward to your translation as the diagram is pointing elsewhere

well, according to the notes from the guy in Italy, the proper setting is
- to have the hall sensor at 50 degrees from the PMS for an oem car.
Or, by
a} placing the 1st cylinder at PMS, compression phase
and
b} having the two holes in the red cycles in the graphic {4 mm diameter holes} align!

Thats all

Though still waiting for a confirmation

ps.
PMS = higher dead point - do not remember the term in English, sorry

We tend to call it "Top dead centre" (TDC)

Yes, that's the notch. Sounds like your man knows a lot more though... :D

Excellent, thanks...I'm about to check the valve clearances on mine so will check this at the same time :D

when you check this sensor with 1st cylinder at TDC compression phase, could you please take a picture from the camshaft? I'm interested on how the cam notches will stand - towards inside or towards outside the engine head.

Now you mention it I think I must check valve clearance in mine too. I hear a couple of valves knocking - one for sure.
