You can buy E85 fuel here now, and I am considering setting the car up for E85 as I put it back together. Why - for better control of detonation.

This would need..

1. higher flow injectors (about 30% more flow headroom than the current 384cc ones that are standard in the car).

2. non rubber fuel hoses.

3. additional fuel pump.

4. surge tank.

question.. what 'larger' injectors have others used on the Q4 that are essentially a direct 'plug and play' swap (aside from reconfiguring the fuel table of course..)

thanks, jimn~

I dont know what E85 fuel is like..never heard of it but to answer your question I have seen Siemens Deka 650cc/min injectors mentioned a number of times.

I'm using the Siemes Deka 630cc.They are plug&play except for the fuel table.
IF you want to fine tune it you will also probably need a WideBand lambda and a controller with that.

Do they cause a drop in petrol efficiency for normal driving ?

Not a drop in efficiency, but the combination ratio (air - fuel ) of E85 is approx 9.765:1 - so you need to combine more of it with a given amount of air - hence the use of more fuel. But it yields a octane of (typically) 105 (RON). There are other 'issues' as well, such as compatibility with rubber, water absorption just to name two.

AXAQ42 - do you have a part # for the Siemes Deka 630cc - to help me get the correct ones?

As long as they are high impendace,EV1 style connector are just fine to order :)

I have ford racing 450cc inyectors with 3 bar of fuel pressure and they work fine. Just a little overfueling on iddle, but im running with std Q4 chip.

Renew the fuel lines, not because of E85, but age. Since 1988 all fuel injected cars have a ethanol resistant system, but we have 2009 now, so problems because of up to 20 year old parts surface on any fuel. Good rule: After 2000km change the fuel filter for a second time. If you open it, you get an idea wether there are loose parts...
I found none.

Running E85 for 2 years now on this engine with best results.

The Siemens are a very good idea if you go for more than 230HP, but you need some serious reprogramming.
If you change the ignition map two, you will use less than 25% more fuel by volume. The power output in stock trimm, if you fit a non restriktive exhaust of course, can be 20% higher than on petrol. The E85 acts as an additional intercooler, so you can run higher boost with the same turbo.
A broad band lambda controller is a must for tuning.
