I bought a widget from neil barnes, but having trouble in getting it to work.

I already checked the connections on the board, and i even plugged in a spare iaw 4W6 with standard chip.

It keeps thinking my eeprom is faulty.

Now i did recall that my car could be put on the alfa tester, but it required to remove the connector on that to work.(Alfa testers have multiple connectors to pair them with different cars.)

So maybe the lines in my alfa tester connection are not as other cars.

Does anybody here know wich signal goes on wich wire for the tester. (The plug in the Q4 that is.)
I believe center is earth, the others are K&L. But i can't find it in the manuals.
The connection itself is showing, but not the signals on the pins.

the ground is the black one and you can check it with a digital multimeter to the beeper mode you going to hear the beep.
i believe that the k & l line is the same to all 3-pin fiat group car but i can not tell for sure
and this is something that dont pass from my mind
we havent try to conect into widget via usb and change the type of the ecu
in mine when i have the ingition the widget seems to work but when i turn on the engine and after the voltage drop gives me that eeprom faulty

I tried the widget with my normal fitted marelli with sqaudra chip.
And i tried with my newly bought sealed marelli with standard Q4 chip.

I also tried both the 16v and the 16vturbo settings.

I really believe the K&L lines are different on Q4 than on other alfa's. But i can't find it anywhere......

I only know the garage alfa tester works with the "help" pieces removed. With most other cars it is used with one mounted. Now, if only i knew what the differences were......

When I connected the scanner (not alfa tester), I did it just like Fiat, and worked OK. In fact, the scanner didn?t have Q4, so i set it like Fiat Tipo Sedicivalvole.

why you dont e-mail to neil barnes he is very hapy to answer
i have e-mail to him before
but then i believe that the problem was the chip
now we are sure that is not the chip
so go for it because im ready to start learning programing of avr microcontrolers to make it work on Q4

I will try some fidling

If you like, we could try it on my Q4?
Although it doesn't run at the moment, it should give a read-out.

Greetings,
Marc

Thanks Marc, but as both my squadra-chip + old Magnetti, as a sealed magnetti + standard chip give the same problem. And there is already an other user with the same experience, i am not sure what plugging it in your q4 would do.

I will try swapping the K&L lines but if that doesn't work it will go back to its maker.

Too bad, as it looked like a very nice toy to have in the Q4.

No problem at all Jan ;)

I figured my Q4 could be used for testing purposes.
But if there are more reports of the same kind, it is a bit useless.

Greetings,
Marc
