Sorry to make a new thread about this small issue... but I need some insight!

in the eper I am using it says that the part number for conrod big end bearings is

71719060

but this has been substituted for part numbers 7729449 AND 60807753 !

which is the correct one?? Thats really what I want to know!

Also a fiat mechanic here in Australia told me that some of the conrods have the retaining tab reversed - so that there are two types of big end bearings... is this right?

thanks, jimn.

Have you used your chassis number to locate the part numbers?

I'm reading ePER and it looks like the old part numbers were superceded by 71719060 in 2001.

Are you not going to need to measure the crank and inspect it before ordering shells?

It may have been machined at some point. Check it for scoring as some swarf is probably in the system somewhere.

Just checked...looks like my previous post is right. The two previously used p/n have changed to the first one you posted :D

ePER can be confusing

I have measured the crank journals - they are 50.80 mm (i can't measure to 3 decimal places like in the manual :) ). They are good to go - the engine has never been apart before - and there are no marks etc on them. Its only done 77,000 kilometers.

any word on the idea that there are two incompatible rod end styles with different 'tab' locations? The guy is a Lancia/Fiat guy so maybe the fiat coupe or the Integrale has this issue. ?

Anyone know the price of 71719060 ? :)

The 8v engine has a different tang location in the rod big end to the 16v. 8v bearings aren't available as far as I know. This causes a problem for some of the rods that are available.

I'll go now and do that email to you Jim
