I have bought a new Turbo for my Q4 that I am going to implement in a few weeks with the new exhaust manifold. Yes - its Chinese - try no to get too upset - it will be interesting to see how if goes compared to the std. one. its basic specs are....
3" Inlet Diameter : 2" outlet
INTERNAL WASTEGATE
Wet Floating Bush Bearings : 1/8 NPT oil inlet
T3 Flange : Fits T3 and T3/T4 Manifolds
Specs:
. 50 a/r compressor
.63 a/r turbine
.57 trim
Turbine wheel:
Exducer: 2.48"
Mayor : 2.89"
Compressor wheel :
Exducer: 2.07"
Mayor : 2.36"
cheers - jimn~
Is it water cooled too like the standard one?
Be interesting to see how long it lasts, especially with the kind of driving you subject the Q4 to. I've read mixed reports about them....good luck! :D

I had a feeling you might "say" that :tongue2:
Hope it works out though Jim
from my personal experience ... sometimes, they work ... pretty rare however to be worth the risk :)

 I've got the same one in my garage, but I haven't built it in yet.
Please tell us if it works, othewise I'm not going to build it in my car...

Mine came with a free Iphone! - it has a connection for an oil feed - not for water.
At least it has a clever location of the pressure tap for the wastegate actuator. Do you know if it is suposed to be a copy of any particular turbocharger?

Please read this:

What do you think about it???

The Mitsu turbo certainly spool up faster from the Garrett and from lower rpm {almost from idle} and keep costant pressure up to the rev limit.
It's fantastic on the Mitsus. Never seen one on Grales or Q4s, to see the differences.
Have found a couple of references to the mitsu turbo's, but never read anything from somebody who actually used this turbo and what the results are. This is something to think about, considering I am going to rebuild my engine.

" in 4th gear and 2000rpm with full throttle, with this set up he has :
at 2500 rpm 0.6 bar
at 3300 rpm 1.8 bar
reaching 1,6 bar at 7000 rpm
...."
...and from lower rpm {almost from idle}
at 2500 rpm 0.6 bar"
That's the bit which bothers me, claiming (on the website too) boost from "almost idle" but then quoting 2,500 for the first boost.
From memory my Q4 is around 0.6 at 3,000...if it is from idle I might reconsider my plan for an expensive T3 disco potato!

Having said that...the GT28RS is cheaper!

Check out the bends on the Scara manifold before putting it back on the shelf and walking away. If you want a cost effective modern turbo and are not afraid of creating a manifold/exhaust to match, scouring scrapyards etc then look for a TD04-19T, it's used on certain Volvo models and made by Mitsubishi. Google is your friend here. :-)
what is the max horse power of this turbo?
Just over 300 hp. I have an adapter from std Q4 manifold to TD04 turbine and it works just fine.
A friend of mine took the 1600 turbo manifold and mounted on his 8V Integrale with a Mitsubishi TD04-1?T from a Saab 9-5 Aero. That was a cheap, clever and fun modification. It worked perfect. But, it doesn't work on the 16V head....
What would be needed to use this T4-19T?
- Adapter for manifold. (Or modify part of Q4 manifold.)
Not sure what this adapter looks like.
- Change exhaust so it fits other side of turbo
- Modify chip
Maybe other stuff?
- Oil feed to turbo?
- Std. Intercooler maybe not strong enough?
- Bigger Injectors?
- Fuel pump upgrade?
- Stronger head bolts?
Sounds good other wise. My car takes 400Nm at the moment but the T3 just doesn't holds it long enough for serious power.
Please see answers below:

A:"I have been looking for pictures in my old archives, but haven't found any. I may have posted pictures on this forum before. I will dismount my turbo as sson as I can and then I will take a picture or maybe sell it to you. It is just that life is quite busy right now..."
- Change exhaust so it fits other side of turbo
A:"YES. New "elbow" to dowpipe."
- Modify chip
A:"It is no disaster if you don't.Check lambda and knock sensor signal. Exhaust Gas temperature if you can. The smaller turbine creates a higher back pressure ..."
Maybe other stuff?
- Oil feed to turbo?
A:"NO, should be ok."
- Std. Intercooler maybe not strong enough?
A:"YES it is, but off course there would be benefits from a better IC."
- Bigger Injectors?
Start with increased fuel pressure. A Walbro GSS 355 pump @ 3.5 bar for example
- Fuel pump upgrade?
A:"YES, as mentioned"
- Stronger head bolts?
A:"If so, with stronger head gasket. My engine holds together so far."
Sounds good other wise. My car takes 400Nm at the moment but the T3 just doesn't holds it long enough for serious power.
A:"I have some Mitsubiishi data sheets that I can send by mail if you do calculations."

Thanks 83 and 84. (Feels a bit 7of9 right now.)
Will do some reading, trying not to be to tempted. :tapedshut:
Gery, those topics are about a 20V 5 cylinder. Not sure how much is usable, besides it looks liek a real nice turbo.
Holy S**T...
I missed that little detail... :D
T3 end (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbocharger-Upgrade-VOLVO-S70-850-TD04HL-19T-6-Monster_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem58868d3aabQQite mZ380214524587QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5f Accessories)
This looks to have a T3 end bit. Is this the same as our T3 or am i bogus?
The 20v has a comparable flow potential (ok, so it's not as good it seems) so for calculation/comparison purpose the results are worth considering.
I think however lag (which everyone wants less of) is not due to turbos, calculate the amount/volume of air a turbo (even quite big ones) passes at low rpm and you'll see how huge it is. It's getting it there that matters, a crisp/suitable engine unit makes sense too.

So the turbo listed above, and this:
http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-FLS-051&Category_Code=FLG
would be a direct fit to the manifold?
So just the exhaust bit to sort, and maybe make room for the actuator? Plus helping the fuel pressure a bit.

Those adapters looks realy top-class! I have the KKK turbo used on later Volvos and it has a totally circular inlet which makes the T3 flange too big in the corners and on the width, while being too narrow in the other direction. The parts seen in the previous post will certainly work well in the flow perspective.
The actuator issue you mentioned could be a real nightmare. I use the std Q4 actuator pre-tensioned as much as possible and have spent a LOT of time making a bracket that just goes free from the flywheel housing. If you are lucky the Volvo turbo shown fits with less effort. I didn't see that the bracket laid against the flywheel housing when we made the elbow to the downpipe... which led to awful lot of extra job....
*crap* adapter is the wrong way around.
It sould have a ring higher than the rest of surface. But the ring is lower.
Grinding of a bit to make it flat would be an idea.
This adapter looks great!

I actualy see some room for improving it.
And as i have a spare ebay-manifold at hand. I think i will buy the T3 TD04-19T and have my mechanic make an adapter to blend the two together. Or modify the manifold to take the turbo.
Just waiting for paypal to clear the money i transfered.

One thing that I would suggest, is that if you are going to try to make more than 1.2 bar boost at high RPM is that you replace the original actuator with a 1 bar one. It makes the process much simpler. That way 'base boost' is 1.0 bar and the actuator does not even think about cracking the wastegate until then. I stuffed around for months using the OEM one, and never really got it working.
jim..
I am liking the idea of these TD04-19Ts. Could be a better option than the GT28RS.
I also saw the T3 with the round opening.
But although that fits directly on my manifold, it wouldn't flow as good as mentioned.

I think i go for the version that needs some work.
Just have to decide to flaten the turbo T3 side. Or mount an adapter like this:
http://i40.tinypic.com/5cevsj.jpg
Scraping some of the turbo keeps the gaskets to one, were with an adapter i need two, of wich one i am not sure were to get it.
(volvo dealer?)
@Jim
I believe the turbo comes with a 1.0 bar actuator as standard.
Thanks for mentioning it, i will look into it.

I got one more question, as my mechanic saw this picture:
http://i42.tinypic.com/312iuep.jpg
And got scared when he spotted the *second* actuator.
I also had no idea what it is for. Maybe any of the tech-guru's can shine some light on this?
here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VOLVO-850-S70-TD04HL-19T-6-Upgrade-Turbo-Turbocharger_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3efee43bad QQitemZ270564342701QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPar tsQ5fAccessories) are some better pictures.
Else i would go for the saab-style version wich has 1 actuator and fits T3 "out of the box".
The nother one is a factory rec-bov. :)

Hi!
Any progress with the TD04-19T?

Not really since i like to buy a volvo v70R. And spending more money on the 155Q4 seems to be not very efficient in that process.
I actualy bought a V70R already, but it was returned to the sale garage and i got my money back. So still looking for another good manual V70R (2003+)
