What better place to ask... I want to install a turbo pressure gauge in my (dare I say it) 156 turbo.. Would this be a good choice?

I have a Siemens VDO. It is a nice looking gauge and probably accurate but it makes a rattling noise when on part boost. I dont really notice it now but passengers do :?

you should fit a restrictor in the hose to the gauge, 1mm or less. this will stop the rattling. a moped jet for the carburettor will be ace :)
Funnily enough I've been thinking about a gauge for my JTD too :cool:
Will try the old one from the Q4 first, as I've got new ones for the beasty.

PS: Does any of you guys know if there are any major differences between this two VDO gauges (-1 to 1,5 bar) and (0 to 3 bar)? Thank in advance.

I think that the difference is that the first show you the turbo "de-pressure", and the second one not.
I have one like this since a year ago and works fine :smile:

I still have to learn a lot about 155 Q4 (and turbo engines)...
The 2 reasons I'd go for this kind of turbo gauge is that it looks to me more (let's say) " '90s style" just like Alfa 155 and because I have a hole in the dashboard that have this diameter (the old tb gauge is missing...).
Is it important to know also the values of turbo "de-pressure" ? Now this could be a silly question...just like the first one maybe.:redface:

You?ll have better accuracy using -1 to 1,5 bar if you?re using stock boost.
Measuring vacuum helps with some problems.
I?d go for the -1 to 1,5 bar one

Yes, for now I'll keep everything in stock limits 'cause I don't have neither the time or the money for any upgrades yet. Beside this I have to get to know better the 155Q4 . But a spare engine is waiting for some more attention in the future...
I don't think I would go for more than 250-300hp so maybe I won't have to change this tb gauge.

I have to learn a lot too mate, and i think here at berlinasportivo.com it's a good place for it, specially about the Q4
I understand what you say about the style of that gauges, i have bought those because was a lot important for me at that moment and don't have a lot of money, in the future i will go for a other style of gauges, like "Stack" for example, however the "racetech gauges" are doing his job fine :smile:

That is the one i got.
Just add some lights in the back, they are not in the kit if i am right.
Saved me from some dissasters already, knowing the boost levels is very important. :eek:

I might ask you sometime later for some help if I won't manage with the instalation kit as I saw that doesn't come with the gauge.

If i recall we also used another feed for the meter. The one packaged was not very good, or to short. The meter it self fits very good with my Q4 dash with the green backlighting.
Just use a t-piece to get the pressure from the inlet-manifold. I fitted the meter on the a pillar, just above the speaker.
1.5+bar max is enough for me. Squadra only goes to +1.2. Negative is good for checking if everything works alright.
One time after a service i had unlimited boost. Wich gave a very fast car, but ridiculous boost levels with moderate throtle. Without a gauge i probably would have blown the engine. (pierbrug connected wrong way around.)
