View Full Version : Bit quiet round 'ere....
...seems a bit quiet recently, you must be doing something interesting....so what's everyone up to?
Me....I've just knocked together a wooden shot blasting cabinet to clean up car bits, with my new compressor
Still building up the Q4....been waiting over a week for some tools from a muppet on ebay :mad::mad:

I fitted the D2 suspension. I still have doubts about fitting original Q4 springs with the D2 shocks at the back.
And am afraid not many of the ordered D2 kits are fitted on riding Q4's at the moment.
Working with 1 tun from full lock at the back. The front will be levelled in a few days. And when the new tires are fitted to the 17 inch rims the car will be a bit more off the ground.
I tried fiat stilo 17inch wheels for bigger brakes, bot also got some nice Rimstock 17 inch pro race 1.2 wheels wich will be even better.
I orderded Bridgestone poteza Re050 tires all around 215/40/17
I have some people working on providing me with options with big brake kits, wich i will hear soon.
So i am pretty busy. And love to hear from other busy owners.

I've been bloody busy this summer, as you may have been able to tell from me not being around much.
Started a new business which is going well, Became a grandpa for the second time. (i'm only 35 and its a long story) Q4 is still up on axle stands in the garage, Parental visit saw my dad arrive with a toolbox full of snap-on tools he no longer needs. Range Rover decided it didn't like fuel pumps and has chewed up 3 this summer, leaving me stranded a couple of times.
Oh and I'm off the Thailand on Monday for a well earned rest and to learn to dive!

Doesnt sound like a rest to me!
Have fun
As for me, completion of our flat happens on Wednesday so I will be moving out :D so that has taken a lot of time (6 months!). God I hate Ikea!!!
Ikea....the stuff the Scandinavians don't want :tapedshut:...can't stand the place
Today...had an exhaust fitted to the Spider, finished my blast cabinet, stopped the Matta exhaust leaking so it's ready for the MOT and finally, put new handbrake cables on the 156 as one snapped on a hill recently :eek:

I'm getting the Q4 ready for this... http://www.aroca6hour.org.au/ .... its a 'sorta' regularity come race event with 40 teams of about 4-6 cars each. So you get a lot of track time, the goal is to pick a nominated time and stick as close to it as possible - most people pick near to their fastest time, so its pretty busy with that many cars on the track at once. And its only next weekend!

what about pics of the shot blasting cabinet? :)
 It's really only a rushed bodged job and not very pretty...although plans are hatching for a steel one if this (wooden one) wears out too quickly.
But will try to get a shot tomorrow...

So looking for fish underwater and later eat the nice ones you see.
And as you are spoiled with the english cuisine of sausage and bacon, it will be difficult to adjust to the Thai kitchen. Good luck with that. :tasty:
Double-gramps at 35... Wow.
I am 36 and just became dad for the second time. Which puts you way ahead. At least in the inhouse noise production department.
Gramps Webb, does sounds neat.
Time for a new line on the front page?
Berlina sportivo hosted on the old rigg of Gramps Webb.
:tongue2:
what about pics of the shot blasting cabinet? :)
You asked for it
The top and sides can be removed to allow access...should be ok for the occassional blasting I'll be doing

So far the construction cost has been absolutely nothing! All from stuff I'd got lying about.
But I've bought some long gloves which should arrive tomorrow and will then cut the holes in the front for them...and away I go!
Been shopping today and off to friends soon, so no work today...

Nice Curtains!!
I see your missing a 10mm spanner there.
That cabinet looks a lot better than mine did  I would post a picture but too embarrased. I looks like I sneezed whilst using the jigsaw!
Nice Curtains!!
Aren't they just  Thankfully I can claim innocence, left by the previous inhabitants! ;)
There is another window to the left...with different but just as horrendous patterns

Yes...victim of me forgeting to remove it from the brake...and then test driving the car :tapedshut::eek:

Don't worry, they don't have to look good (mine could be much better...the foto hides a lot!) How do you find the wood stands up to being blasted?

I think I only used 10mm ply and there were no issues :)
Good...that's the only bit that's had me wondering

And yes the front has to be lowered to suit the back.
Time to sell the black speedlines to make space in the garage.
Very nice indeed
Gone quiet again,so what you up to?
....I'm busy trying to decorate :( No time for the Q4 at the moment, and it's cold in the garage anyway (baby!) :(
Good news is I've found the monitor I want ot go with the little camera recently purchased

Oooops, its all fixed now Jan so spill the beans!
waiting for the car to come back from the bodyshop then i can fit my new hybrid tubby new exhaust chip and a few other goodies.
I already got the brembo bigbrake kit. But they forgot to drill the discs to 4*98. (It is a 156 upgrade kit with brackets for the 155.)
Will shoot some pics tomorrow and later when all is on the car.
Looks nice already.
The pics of the lot.
Front discs have to be redrilled.
I think i got one of the last slotted front disks of brembo, as they are dropping that. And only will make the drilled versions.

On the last pic, the difference in front and rear pads.
In the first the small discs are for the rear. So difference between the new and old discs are smaller than this. Biggest improvement will be from the callipers, wich should be way better than stock.
Now i have to wait for them to be redrilled. Will post new stuff once everything is fitted.
