View Full Version : Body replacement 155 Q4 vs other 155?
Hi there,
Wonder if the 155 front wheel drive car body is the same as 155 Q4 (as I've just crashed mine and want to replace the body of the car)?
As far as I found out, EPER say that the floor panels, the front (strut, side panels, etc.) and the rear end of the car are the same both in Q4 and a front sheel drive 155.
Has anyone on the forum fitted the Q4 mechanicals to the "ordinary" 155 body (were there anything to be modified)?

Boot floor is definitely different!
Not sure about the rest without checking. But the fixings might be different, for running the propshaft and other rear parts for the Q4 system.

here in Greece people use crashed Q4 to convert 155 into Q4. It's quite a work but they do it.
Already know about 2 cars, one in Athens and the other one in northen Greece.

I've been told by an Alfa mech that its possible! All the mounts are there and only boot floor poss has to be changed!! For originality!!
Would be easier on a lhd car as the servo, dash and steering wheel (lol) etc is in the right (wrong):eek: place!!

Ahh, know who you mean I think, would love to know more about that car...is it the one that had the 4wd changed to rwd or fwd?

A friend of mine said, that only 2 holes need to be drilled to support the main shaft and everything else is a "bolt on" job (to fit q4 mechanicals to FWD 155).
Will check once more my q4 body, looks like should be able to repair it.
...what about the boot floor?

apparently not a must have, but if you want it to look like a real q4...
If you do not interchange the boot floor and make changes to the propshaft tunel the modification is not possible . It is not a minor Job!
That's what I thought, the boot floor was changed to allow clearance for the rear diff etc.

if its possible to repair your Q4 body, even if it will cost you more, I suggest to go for it. Q4 are quite rare and if I remember well only 2704 cars were produced. So worth saving one if it's possible - my opinion.

I might have a body left over after fully dismanteling my Q4 for spare parts.
Body is rosso 130 and from 1992, need a respray and an new rear fender (dent).
Only problem might be the location, The Netherlands and is not available rigth now.
I am stil dismanteling it, but have very little time at the moment.

Found a Q4 body with a rollcage already mounted in and not far from here, so will probably go for it or will repair my own. Not too many job to be done on mine but a deformed metal is significantly less strong/rigid and I dont like that for safety reasons (given already week and heavy original body structure).
And yes, Q4 is a rare one, but i need a car to enjoy the driving in the first place, so that it is rare is not quite important to me ;)
Mr Porter looked into this before sorting out the rot on my Q4.
The boot floor is definitely different, also the measurements across the front turrets was different, that and finding a decent LHD shell in the UK lead us away from this option.
