View Full Version : Shims
For the cams and followers.
Where's best to get them and any tips for gapping?
wrinx
Fiat, Guy Croft maybe.
Use feeler guages to check the gap.
Not checked...but are they the type where you have to remove the cam to change the shims?

Yes, but there is a tool to do it without removing the cam.
Could never get one here, only for other Fiats but none fitted the Q4.
The bucket depressing tool is available from GC, or you can just remove the cams after checking them all.
"Bucket depressing tool" - sounds interesting! I like new tools

Checked the clearances last night and they're all ok :eek::eek:
I emailed Guy Croft, they keep the tools in stock for about ?53+vat+post if anyone is interested :D

Always good to check that you actually need something before researching it.....
Why were you checking them anyhow?
Going to be putting the new cam in so the rocker cover is off....good time to check :)

You'll need to check them when you put the cam in for certain.
Cam cover btw, your car has no 'rockers'. Tsk.
