According the Q4's manual, the resistance between the idle control valve's two pins should be approx 7 ohm.
mine gives me 7.7 Ohm. Do you think I need a 'new' valve? Is it possible to use the one from Lancia Delta Integrale?

10% difference, i'd say that's approx.... this is usually the tolerance that's listed for torque settings on 155s too...

ok,

I'll try to clean it {it's a century I want to} and see if it works properly. Need to change its connector first, if I'll find one, and that may take sometime.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

I use an integrale metal one due to further tuning when the plastic casing starts to leak.

thanks for the reply Stunz,
is the grale one a direct replacement or any mods are needed?
I think I'll go for a metal one for I do not like plastic parts in general and this oem one is the second time that gives me troubles.

today I've removed the ICV and discover why it was not working!!! The bl... monkey {I mean the Greek mechanic} who opened it for the last time to clean it up just forgot to mount the outlet spring inside the valve! And I believe he was paid to do that!!!

Now I need an ICV, even one who is not working just to take out the missing spring.

You could try a similar one, worth to try it.

yes Juan,
I'll try any valve that will come in my hands. In a couple of hours I'm going to test a pattent of mine using the spring from a Parker ballpoint - please do not say anything. Having tested the valve on the banch seams to works quite well. Giving +12volt it opens but must test it on the car.
Anyway, I believe I found one from an escort cosworth and as soon as ths arrive I'll replace the old one - working or not.

:tapedshut:

The original spring doesn't have much tension so it might work....

well, although out of the car the valve was working with my 'patent' {opened when I gave +12 volt}, on the car seams not to be efficient. With air-conditioning on, idle drops by 100 rpm.
But I noticed another think. When the valve was closed, at the plastic part of the valve, some air was passing from one tube to the other.
Is this normal or is there a leak at the plastic part?

The Ford Cosworth shares the same item too.

Evodelta,
the one from the cosworth has a plastic or a metal part with the In - Out tubes for the air?

I dunno, does it matter? Have you seen this btw:

Might be of some help.

yes, I've seen that. Seams the lower {plastic or metal} part is missing on cosworth?
I'd like to hope that it does not matter as a cosworth valve is the best I can have now.

By the way, I've noticed that the piston in my pattent is a little bit deeper than in this photo! Maybe I'll try to losen a little bit the bold inside the valve.

The Cos' must have a different lower fitting, as long as it still operates the same I cannot see it mattering.
I measured the threads at 5mm once when disassembling one, I tried it at different settings - no difference.

thanks for the info. I'll wait for the cosworth one.

I was thinking that too...the springs are so weak that a mm here or there won't make much difference.

Forgot to measure mine before dismantling  but set it about 4mm.

Started the beasty today and all was well, immediately idled where it should instead of needing me to prod the throttle a few times

I'm glad for you.

Still waiting for the new valve to arrive. The 'Parker' spring did not helped that much. In traffic, with air-con on goes down about 100 rpm and if I brake hard goes off immediately.
Hope to solve this item as soon as the new valve arrive.
