As you all know we are currently dealing with D2 with a suspension kit, they have asked if we would be interested in a deal (dealer prices) for braking kits.
If we did want to go ahead with a brake kit group buy, what specifications would people be looking for, 4pot/6pot/8pot? 284mm/320mm/ bigger? Able to fit in 16"/17" wheels
Any suggestions or are we all going to be looking for different things?
Steve
I'm already going for the GTA 4pods for the V6. it would be nice to get a 284 kit that will fit on the original discs for the daily, but they'd have to have dust-covers, since it's a daily driver. I haven't been able to find out if the D2 calipers are have dust covers, or if they are "bare" just like the wilwoods? Also, would they be able to supply floating discs with aluminium centre?
I'm looking at Wilwoods one day, to run 284s under the Milanos I've got.
Be nice to get 300s with a thinner caliper body as the 166 calipers won't go under :(

The Brembo GTA 4pot brake conversion is no option for me. They won't fit with my tecnomagnesio 17" 7j*ET37 wheels, which I want to keep . Only with a spacer of at least 18mm, which is impossible on a small body
Considering the way the group suspension buy is going, I don't think I want to be a part of this brake group buy. I'll wait and see the outcome of the suspension group buy. Hopefully everything will be sorted out for us and we will get what we ordered.
The price is interresting, but I am looking for a reliable partner who doesn't change the terms during the process (certainly after the payment and placing of the order :tapedshut:). So for know I think i'll be going for the Tarox 8 or 10 piston kit with 320mm discs. Yes this is way much more expensive, I know! But currently I am very unhappy with the way the suspension group buy is going.
greetings,
Marc
Hmm i would be interested.... What is the price! an something to fit under my 16'' technomagnesio.
I would be interrested in something that fits in the 16inch speedlines i got fitted, and probably wont change those to something bigger. But I would like something better than almost stock wich i got now.
All depending on price offcourse.
And i also would like to keep this separate from the suspension buying.
Unless we get some clear answers.
I could be interested in some nice brakes that will fit in 17 inch 4*98 wheels.
(looking to buy some nice 17 inch rims.)
And maybe D2 can ship some stiffer springs for the rear with them?
(The suspension really is nice but the back-end stuff is proof of a miscalculation.)
Could i get the price quotes steve?
ill be interested for something to fit with 16" rims

Hi Guys.
With regards to the brake / wheel fitment issue, attached is a template so you can check if the brakes will fit behind your wheels, along with instructions on how to use it.

Nice!
Are there templates for 330mm? Would like to try them later on my new wheels. (will arrive in about 2 weeks i hope.)
And could i get an estimate in costs? (330 and 308) Can be by PM as i understand nothing is fixed at this point.
Welcome back Steve.
Okay the 308mm sure don't fit into speedline 16 inch.
Lets see if they go into the fiat stilo 17 inch wheels i am expecting.
Forget the 330mm Steve, looked like i need 2 cm+ spacers on the speedlines for 308.....
Just borrowing some pics from this thread to show what i will get.

Now, will i paint the wheels or not.......... I am very used to the black rims on my red car.
hi steve are the disc size there suggesting 318mm or 330mm ??
Nice car! anyone wants it?
Well the stilo wheels are in. But even those won't keep the D2 brakes inboard.
Clearence is a *lot* better than the 5 spoke speedlines, but not enough.Still would need almost 1 cm spacers. I didn't measure very precise as soon as i saw they didn't fit.
But at least i can get some 17 inch tires to go with these.
(Bridgestone potenza re050 looks nice.)

Excelent choice  I have them and am very satisfied with those tyres! The re050 is the successor of the Potenza S-03 pole position, also an excelent tyre.

I know i have them on my "ricer" car.
But i have to wait for the other rims to come in before i put them on.
I then choose wich ones to use.
D2 brakes will fit in these:

And they are light and 4*98. Rimstock pro race 1.2 7J 17 inch.
Guys, xyz racing have ready kits for q4. I've bought two kits from them (1 for escort cosworth and one volvo) and I have to say they are pretty high quality. Probably will get one for my q4 some day, when the body work is done.
Can't say same thing on d2 however many people complained about d2's quality.
Also XYZ were quite correct on everything.
As D2 failed to answer my mail sofar. (1 week)
I ordered Brembo stuff.
It will be a 4 pot 156 kit converted for my 155.
What's in the kit? is it a brake disks with 4x98 and a bracket for Q4? could you give more details on that?
Thanks

It is the 156 4pots kit. Of wih the discs will be redrilled to fit 4x98.
So 4 pots callipers.
305x28 discs and everything to mount it.
I am not sure if they come with the correct brake lines, but i alos upgraded mine before so no problem.
Costs me about 1500 euro.
The wheels *almost* clear the new brakes.
Will need about 5mm spacers at the front.
Looks really impressive!
Where are the photos? :D
I forgot to make one.
But as my driveshaft has to be balanced still. (Waiting for the rubber bearing still.) I will have plenty of time to make a picture.
Next week should have something to show for.
Time for some pics:

Shaft is finaly being shipped tomorrow.
But i got the sold out rubber bit!
Blimey they look meaty!
I think the brembo "aftermarket" callipers look better than the 166 3.0V6 version.
I didn't think about it when ordering. But it looks more capable compared to these:

Its home again.

Looks fantastic!
I must bring mine back up to scratch again soon..
My wheels (pro race 1.2 rimstock/team dynamics) are et 38. They also are available in et25. Wich could give even more room.
These brakes are a thight fit with my setup!
